The ISEE Potomac Chapter Scholarship Committee deliberated on July 14, 2016 to review the applications and decide on the winners of the three $2,000 scholarships offered by our chapter. We had received ten applications before the June 30, 2016 deadline. All of the applicants were very worthy individuals, making the selection process a very intense and rewarding review for the whole committee.

We are pleased to announce that we have awarded the scholarships to the following outstanding individuals:

The James E. McKeever Scholarship – Awarded to Jordan Grapes of Augusta, West Virginia. Jordan will be attending Wilson College (NC) in the fall, where he will major in Business / Finance. Jordan’s post-graduate goal is to establish a semi-independent living community for the elderly in his home area. Jordan is the son of chapter member Charlie Grapes.

The Charles Greening Scholarship – Awarded to Andrew Woodward of Martinsburg, West Virginia, son of chapter member Bill Woodward. Andrew is currently enrolled in Civil Engineering studies at West Virginia University, and aspires to becoming a professional engineer following in the footsteps of his grandfather. Andrew was an AP Student at Hedgesville High School – and received honors from the National Honor Society, Soar Award, and French National Honor Society.

The G. Alan Foster Scholarship – Awarded to Garrett Santis of Ijamsville, Maryland, son of chapter member Lon Santis. Garrett was ranked first in his graduating class at Urbana (MD) High School with a 4.0 GPA. He will attend Lebanon Valley College (PA) in the fall, majoring in Chemistry with the goal of attaining a PhD as a research scientist.

On behalf of the committee, we extend our hearty congratulations to these recipients! We thank all of those worthy individuals who applied, and encourage those applicants to look forward to next year.

Sincerely,
Bob Spaniol
Scholarship Committee Chairman
